The Shrink Atlas

The map of human functioning

742 canonical concepts across 6 realms. Every concept exists once and connects across the graph.

What the Atlas is

The Shrink Atlas is a map of how a person actually works: how we think, feel, learn, decide, relate, perform, and recover. Most mental health writing is a pile of articles. The Atlas is something else. It's one connected system of concepts, each defined once and placed where it belongs, so the whole thing holds together instead of repeating itself.

Why every concept exists once

ShrinkDaily builds knowledge objects, not posts. Each concept is written a single time as the canonical version, carries an evidence label, and links to the concepts around it. When the science moves, we update that one object and every lesson, pathway, and framework that points to it moves with it. Nothing drifts, and nothing quietly contradicts itself across the site.

How realms work

A realm is a broad area of human functioning. The Atlas has six: Thinking, Feeling, Becoming, Connecting, Performing, and Recovering. Every concept belongs to exactly one realm, so you always know where you are. If you're not sure where to begin, begin with the realm that matches what you're dealing with right now.

How libraries work

Inside each realm, concepts are grouped into libraries. A library is a tighter cluster, like Overthinking inside Thinking, or Resilience inside Recovering. Libraries make a large map walkable. You can read a whole library and come away with a real working model of one part of the mind.

How pathways sequence concepts

A pathway is a guided route through the Atlas. The concepts stay where they are; a pathway just puts them in an order that builds. If a realm is the territory and a library is a neighborhood, a pathway is the walking tour that takes you through in the order that makes the most sense.

How frameworks combine concepts

A framework is a model that ties several concepts into one way of understanding a problem. Where a concept names one idea, a framework shows how a handful of them fit together and what to do with them. The frameworks grew out of the concepts, not the other way around.

How this connects to the Shrink Network

ShrinkDaily is the daily learning layer of the Shrink Network. The Atlas turns evidence-informed ideas into a daily habit. When you want more, Shrinkopedia explains topics in depth, Shrinktionary defines the language, and shrinkMD provides clinical care. Education here, care there.
