Shrink Definition

Identity salience refers to the relative importance or prominence of a particular identity in a given situation. People hold many identities simultaneously, but not all are equally active at every moment. Context influences which identity becomes most psychologically relevant and therefore most likely to guide attention, emotion, decision making, and behavior. Identity salience is dynamic rather than fixed.
